HPL Alu-honeycomb composite panel
HPL Alu-honeycomb composite panel
HPL Alu-honeycomb composite panel is a lightweight sandwich panel based on aluminium ‘honeycomb’ core and aluminium skins with HPL laminate(s), its principle
characteristics are the high mechanical performances, the excellent behaviour against fire, smoke and toxicity (fully compliant with ‘Maritime Equipment Directive’
(MED) 96/98/EC) and thanks to the use of ‘honeycomb’ core a very low weight; due to these characteristics it is particularly suitable for applications in interiors
manufacturing in marine, railway and building markets with a finished surface ready to use.
HPL Alu-honeycomb composite panel is normally supplied with finished laminate ( one side or both sides ) 0,9 mm thickness standard HPL from the wide range of colours
and finishing from Abet Laminati.
Core:
Aluminium alloy : 3000 series
Honeycomb density : 2.6 lbs/foot (43 Kg/m)- standard production
2.9 lbs/foot (46 Kg/m)–standard production

FABRICATION and STORAGE:
HPL Alu-honeycomb composite panel can be worked with standard tools ( cutting and drilling), taking attention for burrs during cut edges. Before to start further
operations over the skins (painting or bonding) particular attention should be taken to clean the panel skins from any dust or grease presence. The panels should
always stored in vertical or horizontal ( preferred) position until further reworks; if laminates have to be used to finish the panels, it has to be considered that
during its operative life, the panel should not work in areas where different temperature and humidity levels are present on the two faces. Also the ‘cut and fold’
technique can be applied ( on the raw panel) to produce curved or bended parts ( contact Metalleido Components for more information)
SAFETY:
As on most of materials when cutting operations are done, inhalation and eye contact should be avoid; for this reason, it’s strongly recommended use of suitable
protective equipment (ear defenders, safety glasses, gloves..). Wash hands immediately after finishing works .
